The Cultural Committee and Historic Preservation Office are looking for individuals interested in becoming Tribal Cultural Monitors.  This is an on-call based paid position with mileage reimbursement.

Those who may be interested should be 18 years old, from a federally recognized tribe and have:

  • a valid driver’s license
  • a dependable vehicle
  • be able to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions
  • be able to stand several hours at a time and walk up to 10 miles a day in rough terrain
  • be able to be away from home for 1-10 days at a time.

If you are interested in becoming a  Cultural Monitor, please  write a letter of interest  and drop it off at either the Cultural Committee Office or the Historic Preservation Office. The first monitor training class is scheduled for August.

The  position will be open until filled.

The Quechan Indian Tribe 2022 School Covid-19 Readiness Assistance Program is Open to Parents/Legal Guardians of Enrolled Quechan Tribal Members only (3-18 year olds).

The 2022 School Covid-19 Readiness Program has been developed to assist school age children (Headstart:-12th Grade) during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

This assistance is to purchase items to prepare the Student for Distance Learning online or those attending school on campus. Items such as; Clothing, Education supplies, Electronic Items, Cleaning Supplies, Food for Student, Utilities, personal hygiene and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

The Quechan Animal Control department is giving out FREE tick medications for dogs and cats.

The brown dog tick mostly feeds on dogs, biting humans occasionally. It can spread Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (RMSF) to dogs and people, and ehrlichiosis to dogs. It’s most active where it is hot and dry.

Prevent tick bites:

  • Check for ticks on people and pets daily
  • Wear insect repellant
  • Treat pets for ticks

Flea and tick treatment:

  • Small dog collar: 7 weeks or older (8 month treatment)

IMPERIAL COUNTY- The Imperial County Public Health Department announced today that a local mosquito pool has tested positive for Saint Louis Encephalitis (SLE). The mosquito pool was collected In the townsite of Wlnterhaven at the Imperial County Sheriff Substation, 518 Railroad Ave. The sample was collected on June 22nd and results were received today, June 30th.
