Job Description:

Under the direction of the Case Manager Coordinator, the Youth Specialist is responsible for Youth Program activities funded by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). This position coordinates with local educational institutions, employers, agencies and key stakeholders to ensure success for youth. Overall, this position is responsible for developing, maintaining, and submitting WIOA mandatory documentation for participants.

The Youth Specialist must master the use of mandated state database system, to ensure: timeliness, accuracy, completeness, comprehension. The Youth Specialist must be willing to accept new challenges and be willing to embrace change.

  • All other inputs such as: job placements, outcomes, exit information, goals/measurable skill gains, testing scores, etc.
  • Query AJC system and view monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as needed to maintain case in track and updated.

  1. Serve as Academic Advisor for Youth.

  • Provide academic advice to youth to include complex analysis integration.
  • Review transcripts to ensure eligibility for admission to a specific grade level including evaluation of transfer credits and applicability of academic credits to program requirements.
  • Review youth files to ensure deadlines are met for completing various testing requirements; course work, comprehensive examination, and other specific program requirements.
  • Participate in continuing in-service training related to academic information and advisement procedures.
  • Keep abreast of Department of Education GED requirements and testing locations.
  • Participate in group consultations with school administrators, provider personnel, support systems and others to enhance their work with youth.

Job Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree in Career, Vocational Education, Social Work, or Human Services with two years of experience in case management in a related field; Or, an equivalent combination of education and four years of experience in case management and Academic Advisor field. Job Duties:

On a daily basis, the ideal candidate:

  • Provide excellent customer service to our clients over the phone in a fast-paced call center environment, which includes being empathetic to the client’s situation
  • Conduct interviews to gather information to make an eligibility determination for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medical Assistance (AHCCCS Health Insurance), and/or Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF)
  • Evaluate a client's current family and living situation, as well as work and income; apply that information appropriately based on policy for each program
  • Educate the clients on the interview process, and walk them through how to upload the appropriate documentation to qualify for public assistance benefits
  • Upload their documentation using the various methods available
  • Ensure all client information is captured accurately during the interview process and entered into the computer systems. This requires being familiar with using a keyboard and mouse and having the ability to toggle through multiple programs and screens.
  • Verify client information by interacting with internal and external customers and community resources

Position Summary

The Cook II  will accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and/or cold food items for various meal periods: to include Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Special/Catered Events. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but Sodexo may identify other responsibilities of the position. These responsibilities may differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements.

General Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and cooks to order foods requiring short and broader preparation time.
  • May produce food and serve customers at an a la carte or may operate a grill station.
  • Prepares food in accordance with current applicable federal, state and corporate standards, guidelines and regulations to ensure high-quality food service is provided.
  • Reads food order or receives verbal instructions on food required by patron, and prepares and cooks food according to instructions.
  • Provides the highest quality of service to customers at all times.
  • Follows basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts and other foodstuffs for consumption in eating establishments.
  • Prepares foods by operating a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, washing, peeling, cutting and shredding fruits and vegetables, and trimming and cutting meat, poultry or fish for culinary use.
  • Tastes products, reads menus, estimates food requirements, checks production, and keeps records in order to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment.
  • May clean and sanitize work stations and equipment and must follow all Sodexo, client and regulatory rules and procedures.
  • Attends all allergy and foodborne illness in-service training.
  • Complies with all Sodexo HACCP policies and procedures.
  • Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
  • Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
  • Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments.  
  • Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.
  • Produces small to large batch goods using advanced and full range of classical cooking techniques.
  • May select recipes per menu cycle, prepare bakery items, receive inventory, move and lift foodstuffs and supplies and prepare meals for customers requiring special diets.
  • Typically performs fast food cooking duties in preparing food items to be served to customers.
  • Intermediate to advanced knife skills required.

Qualifications & Requirements

Experience/Knowledge:

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • 3 to 4 years of related work experience.
  • Knowledge of basic operation of equipment and cash-handling procedures preferred.
