Best chances for showers and thunderstorms are expected Wednesday as a weather system moves through the region.

The Temporary Shelter located at Paradise Event Center is now closed. The cooling Center at the Quechan Community Center has now reopened and is back to normal operation. Hours are daily 10am to 10pm.

Power to the reservation has been restored.

Due to the power outage and unknown repair timeline, the Paradise Event Center is now open for temporary shelter until power is restored.

There is a power outage affecting the Fort Yuma Indian Reservation and surrounding Imperial County areas.  IID is aware of the outage and is working to restore power.

Currently there is no timeline when the repairs will be completed.

Southeast winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 70 mph expected in Parker Valley, Kofa, Yuma, Central La Paz County, Southeast Yuma County and Gila River Valley from 11 AM this morning to 11 PM MST this evening.

Very difficult driving conditions, especially for larger vehicles traveling along roads with crosswinds. Light, unsecured objects will become airborne. Moderate tree and

Widespread rainfall totals of 1-4" probable in SE California with isolated accumulations in excess of 5 inches possible resulting in significant and possibly locally catastrophic impacts today.

Daily chances for storms mainly across high terrain areas all week, with minor risk of extending into south-central and southwest Arizona.

Localized Major Heat Risk on Wednesday and Thursday. An Excessive Heat Watch has been issued for the Phoenix, Yuma, and El Centro Metro areas.

Increasing moisture and slightly cooler temperatures are expected this weekend.

We are monitoring a potential tropical system this weekend which may bring significant impacts to the region.
