On Friday, December 22, 2023 representatives from the Visit Yuma and Crossroads Mission met with the Quechan Tribal Council.
The purpose of the meeting by the Visit Yuma representatives was to present the tribe with the award for 'Best Float' at the 2023 Dorothy Young Electric Light Parade that was held on December 9, 2023. The float that featured the theme "Travel Forward" was built by Sleepy Hollow manager Ruben Townsend, who was present during the meeting to receive the award. Along with the award, the tribe received a check for $250.00.
The Tribal Council then presented Cross Roads Mission a check for $3,000.00 to help with meals during the holidays. The Tribal Council also donated the $250.00 prize money from the parade to Crossroads Mission.
