Prolonged Heat Wave Through At Least Early Next Week / Chance for Isolated High Terrain Storms This Week

Long-duration excessive heat event likely to cause public health impacts with the greatest impacts starting Friday onward.

Increasing areas of Major HeatRisk with localized Extreme HeatRisk expected over the weekend.

Isolated thunderstorms mainly over high terrain areas are possible today, with chances beginning to decrease thereafter.

CHANGES FROM PREVIOUS BRIEFING
• Increased the Phoenix metro area to Extreme HeatRisk on Friday through at least Sunday.
• Increased the High Terrain areas to Major HeatRisk on Saturday through at least Sunday.
• Increased Southwest Arizona AND Southeast California to Extreme HeatRisk on Saturday through at least Sunday.
