A series of storm systems will bring an increased threat of light rainfall and cooler conditions the next few days. The first storm system may also result in windy conditions across southeastern California Saturday.

Previous road closure couldn’t get finished due to weather conditions.
Road will be Fog-sealed and will need to cure before its accessible again.
On Monday, January 9, 2023, work on San Pasqual Drive will commence.
A series of road improvements will be performed.

On December 5th, The General Election was held. Candidates Michael J. V. Jack and Donald W. Medart Jr. fell within the one percent (%) total vote cast. A recount was held on December 12, 2022 and showed Michael J.V. Jack And Donald W. Medart Jr. tied.

Below normal temperatures will persist into the weekend with widespread freezing likely across SW AZ and the lower CO River Valley Saturday morning. Expect a warming trend towards normal temps going into next week with lots of sun.

Cold overnight conditions are expected to persist in SW AZ and the CO River Valley, especially in rural areas, where lows could drop below freezing. Clear and calm conditions are expected with lots of sunshine late this week and into the weekend.
Attention fireworks vendors, applications are available.
Issuance of Fireworks Special Use Permits and booth reservations will begin on Thursday, December 15, 2022. The Special Use Permits are only valid for ten (10) days from December 22, 2022 to December 31, 2022.
Only Safe and Sane Fireworks are allowed to be sold.

We continue to monitor a strong weather system that will impact the forecast area (most likely) Sunday-Monday, with what looks like the coldest temperatures of the season likely later into next week. The current outlook shows good chances for precipitation across the Phoenix metro Sunday afternoon through Sunday night. Post-system low temperatures are likely to dip below the freezing mark across large areas of the lower deserts across southern AZ by Wednesday morning.

The time between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day is traditionally a time of great expectation for family, friends, and neighbors to enjoy the season and maybe relax before the start of a new year. It is also a time for increased calls for service in the fire service. Remember to “Candle with Care” and keep fire safety in mind when doing your holiday decorating. Here is some information from the National Fire Protection Association.
