We are seeking candidates for the 2023/2024 Miss Quechan Pageant.  Candidates must be between the ages of 18 and  24 years old.

Pageant applications can be picked up at the Quechan Tribal office's Receptionist Desk Monday through Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.

The pageant will be held at the Paradise Event Center on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 7:00 pm.

Rain chances will be near zero for most areas with a slight chance (20-30%) for a few isolated showers/storms in far eastern portions of southern Gila County Sunday afternoon.

Flash Flood Warning for West Central Yuma County in southwestern Arizona, Southeastern Imperial County in southeastern California until 3:45 PM MST /3:45 PM PDT/.

At 12:43 PM MST /12:43 PM PDT/, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area.

Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are possible in the warned area.

Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD... Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Yuma, Somerton, Gadsden, Fortuna Foothills, San Luis, Araby, Winterhaven, Andrade and Blaisdell.

Quechan Head Start Reminder:

Quechan Head Start will be closed on Monday, September 4, 2023 in observance of Labor Day.

Head Start will reopen on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.

Quechan Head Start will have an early out on Monday, September 11, 2023.  Children will load the bus or be picked up at 11:30 am.

THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR SOUTHWESTERN IMPERIAL COUNTY
WILL EXPIRE AT 1:45 PM PDT.

The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe limits, and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property.  Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire. However gusty winds and heavy rain are still possible with this thunderstorm.

Attention Tribal Vendors, the booth reservation application for the 2023 Quechan Indian Days Celebration is now available.

The EDA office will be accepting Booth Reservation Applications on September 5, 2023 beginning at 8:00 a.m.  The Booth Reservation Application will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.

All vendors must be present to complete a Booth Reservation Application, which includes the opportunity to pick their booth.

All Tribal Vendors must possess a Business Permit valid through the last day of this event.

All food vendors must possess a valid Food Handler Certificate. Please visit the free online IHS Food Handler training at https://www.ihs.gov/foodhandler to obtain one.

The Temporary Shelter located at Paradise Event Center is now closed. The cooling Center at the Quechan Community Center has now reopened and is back to normal operation. Hours are daily 10am to 10pm.

Power to the reservation has been restored.

Update 08/19/2023 4:47 pm:

Due to the power outage and unknown repair timeline, the Paradise Event Center is now open for temporary shelter until power is restored.

There is a power outage affecting the Fort Yuma Indian Reservation and surrounding Imperial County areas.  IID is aware of the outage and is working to restore power.

Currently there is no timeline when the repairs will be completed.
